This is not your average Boquete hiking tour. Hiking the Volcan Baru summit can take up to 11 hours, depending the physical condition of the group. We'll set out at after 11pm in order to make the summit in time for sunrise. Making an elevation gain of 2,274 meters, (7,498 feet) over 27 km (16.77 miles) round trip, this hike is the original Thighmaster and a real star in the Boquete hiking world. It is also truly not for the faint of heart. For this hike you should be strong, capable & ready for a challenge. That said, this amazing hike in Panama is actually one of the most popular things to do in Boquete, Panama.

Departures: Available daily, but dependent on a minimum of participants. Weather is also a factor. Best to call us to check availability a week in advance. Hotel pickup is provided from select hotels in Boquete. Departs from the Plaza Los Establos in the center of Boquete around 11:00pm. Exact meeting instructions will be provided with your confirmation voucher.

Insider tip: The summit of the Baru Volcano is extremely cold with strong wind gusts. The hike operates rain or shine, unless of course there is a major weather even that shuts down the Volcan Baru National Park. The best time of year for this hike is December through April which is our driest season. The rest of the year there could be inclement weather during the hike. Prepare yourself and bring a heavy rain coat and waterproof equipment if you have it. Boquete is a small mountain town that pretty much lives in a perpetual spring, so don’t expect to find an REI to gear up nearby.
