Hiking Metropolitan Natural Park Nature Trails

Hiking around Panama is incredible! One of the things that make Panama City so amazing is the abundance of nature located right within the city limits. In fact, the Metro Natural Park is said to be the largest protected Tropical Forest Park within the city limits in all of Latin America.

There are 4 main trails that our experienced guides can choose from depending on the activity level of the group keeping in mind as well the best spots for nature viewing depending the season or recent sightings.

The Challenger: Caobos (1.1km) Aside from being rich with diverse flora and fauna, Caobos offers the reward of a vista of the Panama City and the Bay area along with a slightly more challenging terrain for those who are not afraid of a little sweat. This hiking trail also boasts a natural bird migration path between Panama and the US.

The Express Hike: Los Momotides (0.7km) Whether you are short on time or have physical limitations, this flat stroll will allow visitors to pack the most punch into their short visit to the Metro Park. Named after the "Blue Crowed Momot" that frequents this area, there are several other critters that can be spotted along this hiking trail that will allow you an opportunity for wildlife viewing.

The Panoramic Hike: Mono Titi Road (1.1km) Get a sneak peak at some installations used by the US military before heading out to observe all the natural flora and fauna that have been able to now flourish here. Named after the most popular critter in the park, the Geoffroyis’s Tamarin, this hiking trail offers a wide easy terrain and you are rewarded with panoramic views of Panama City and the surrounding parks.

The Nature Lovers Sidetrack: La Cienaguita Trail (1.1km) Walk lightly and speak softly (or not at all) and you will get the most out of this off the beaten path trail. Although connecting with the Mono Titi hiking trail intermittently, this hiking trail immerses you in the quieter less traveled paths. Pay close attention here and you will not be disappointed by the amount of flora & fauna that takes refuge here.

No need to venture out for hours when the Metropolitan Natural Park offers lush vegetation, a variety of hiking trails, and an abundance of wildlife right outside your own back door...or in this case about a 20 minute drive from most hotels.
