Whale watching in Panama during the months of July to October is spectacular! Departing from Flamenco Island at the end of the Amador Causeway, we will cruise past the line up into the Panama Canal and head towards the Pearl Islands. During our voyage toward the Pearl Islands, we will keep our eyes peeled in search of humpback whales, gray whales, and dolphins. We will stop to observe the whales ensuring we keep a safe distance so as not to disturb or harm them as we practice safe whale watching in Panama.
The journey to Isla Chapera will take a few hours depending the amount of whales we find. There are tables and shade on the lower deck, and great whale viewing opportunities from the upper deck. Once we arrive to Chapera Island, you will have between 1.5 and 2 hours of free time on Playa Cacique beach and the Mar y Oro restaurant. Playa Cacique beach is stunning, and the crystal blue water will have you thinking you are in the Caribbean rather than the Pacific Ocean.
A delicious BBQ lunch of grilled sausages and chicken is served on board the catamaran between 12:30pm and 2pm. Overall beach time on Chapera Island is determined by the amount of time we spend whale watching. The more whales we see, the less time on the beach. A pretty fair trade we think!
After a full day of whale watching in the Pearl Islands, it’s time to head back to Panama City. The fun does not stop there though! As we cruise back into the sunset, the DJ will crank up the music and get the dance party started. Still keep your eyes peeled because this is the time when the males are most active. You may even get to see a whale breech, which is an unforgettable experience of a lifetime.

Children: Minimum age is 3. Children 3-12 years old pay a discounted rate.
Restrictions: Unfortunately, the access to Chapera Island is not wheelchair accessible. You need to be able to go from the large boat to a small water taxi and climb out of the water-taxi at the beach. Call us with any restrictions and we are happy to accommodate if possible.
Important Notes: The BBQ lunch consists of chicken and sausage. If you are a vegetarian, the chef can make a substitution ONLY if notified in advance. Please note any dietary restrictions in the special instructions box. If you forget, you can always bring your own food or purchase something from the restaurant on the beach.
If you want alcoholic beverages, you are welcome to bring a 15x15 cooler bag, however keep in mind that glass containers are not permitted. If you want to bring wine, transfer it into an acceptable container and bring plastic cups. The staff will perform a search of your bags prior to boarding.
